FDA Warns of Microdosing Chocolate Bar Side Effects

(VitalNews.org) – The Food and Drug Administration has spoken out against a microdosing chocolate bar from Diamond Shruumz-brand after it has made multiple people sick.

The victim who fell sick after eating the chocolate bar had symptoms of seizures, central nervous system depression, hypertension/hypotension, agitation, abnormal heart rates, nausea, and vomiting. According to the FDA, the full list of chocolate bars is not known but six of the eight people who were sick were hospitalized as a result.

The company’s website read that the chocolate bars were made with a “primo proprietary blend of nootropic and functional mushrooms.” The Federal Drug Administration warned against eating any of the chocolate bars made by the company and they stressed that these bars can be marketed towards children because it’s candy.

The FDA has previously spoken out about nootropics, which is what Shruumz says is in their bars, saying that they are “a term widely used to market unapproved products as ‘smart drugs’ and ‘cognitive enhancers.’”

According to the FDA, “Parents and caregivers should consider discussing the information in this advisory with their children and take extra care to avoid this product being consumed by younger people.”

The director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, Steve Dudley, said, “While these products claim to contain only natural ingredients and no scheduled drugs, there is clearly something toxic occurring.” He continued, “We’ve seen the same phenomenon of people eating the chocolate bar then seizing, losing consciousness, and having to be intubated.”
