Democrats’ New Probe Targets Trump’s FBI Director

SENSELESS DEMOCRAT PROBE

House Democrats launch yet another politically motivated investigation targeting FBI Director Kash Patel over his use of government aircraft, despite existing policies that require directors to use FBI jets for all travel.

Story Highlights

  • Democrats demand FBI travel records from Patel by December 15, 2025
  • Investigation focuses on personal trips to Pennsylvania, Texas, and Nashville
  • FBI policy actually requires directors to use government aircraft for security reasons
  • Personal travel costs must be reimbursed at coach fare rates under existing rules

Democrats Target Trump’s FBI Director

Rep. Jamie Raskin and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove have initiated a congressional probe into FBI Director Kash Patel’s travel patterns, focusing on his October 25, 2025, flight to Pennsylvania State University, where his girlfriend performed at a wrestling match.

The Democrats characterized the trip as a “date night” with “no apparent connections to official duties,” demanding comprehensive travel records, passenger information, and communications related to recent flights.

Investigation Expands to Multiple Destinations

The Democrat inquiry extends beyond Pennsylvania to include a Texas trip where Patel visited Republican mega-donor Bubba Saulsbury at Boondoggle Ranch, described as a “scenic hunting resort.”

The Wall Street Journal first reported this four-day excursion to San Angelo, Texas. Democrats discovered these travel patterns through public flight logs and social media posts by Patel’s girlfriend, a country singer based in Nashville.

Previous CBS News reporting from May 2025 revealed additional trips to Las Vegas, where Patel maintains a residence, and Nashville on March 7 and March 24, 2025.

Senate Democrats had already requested a Government Accountability Office review of Patel’s travel practices earlier this year, suggesting a coordinated effort to scrutinize the Trump-appointed FBI director’s activities.

Existing Policy Framework Often Overlooked

Executive branch policy actually mandates that FBI directors use government aircraft for all travel, whether official or personal, to maintain secure communications access and emergency response capabilities.

Directors must reimburse the government at coach fare rates for personal flights and cover costs for family or friends who accompany them on personal trips. This security protocol exists regardless of the director’s political affiliation or the administration in power.

Limited Congressional Authority Behind Investigation

Despite their demands for records by December 15, 2025, Raskin and Kamlager-Dove lack subpoena power as minority party members, meaning they can only request rather than compel document production. Their letter emphasized that government aircraft belong to American taxpayers, not individual officials.

The FBI has not responded to requests for comment regarding the Democrat investigation, which appears to be another attempt to undermine Trump administration appointees through congressional harassment rather than substantive oversight.
