John Vincent, a senior editor for vehicle testing, has spoken out about the list, which was created by looking into the car’s price, driving range, performance, safety, interior, reliability, and many other factors. Testers evaluated about one hundred different EVs to choose the top ones, considering these factors.
Although there has been a huge push in the market for electric vehicles, not all motorists are convinced about the switch. According to Consumer Reports, electric vehicles are less reliable and have more problems than gas-powered cars.
With this said, the top luxury electric vehicle is called Lucid Air and goes for almost seventy thousand dollars; it has the longest drive range of any other electric vehicle. “It’s incredibly fast, it’s incredibly efficient, and can drive 500 miles on a single charge. It’s a better Tesla Model S than the Tesla Model S,” said Vincent about Lucid Air.
The best luxury electric SUV was voted as the Volvo XC40 Recharge, which is just one of the many Volvo vehicles that you’ll see on this list today. On the other hand, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was voted as the best electric SUV and it sits at a little over forty thousand dollars.
The best electric car in general was voted as the Hyundai Ioniq 6, which is a step up from the SUV that was listed previously. Ford’s F-150 Lightning is the best electric truck. “You can move from the gas-powered F-150 to the F-150 Lightning and not notice a lot of difference in how it performs,” Vincent said.
The Volvo S60 Recharge is the best luxury “plug-in” hybrid and is said to offer the fastest battery charging on the market. The best non-luxury “plug-in” hybrid is the Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid, which can go from zero to sixty in seven seconds.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid is the best hybrid car on average and it’s said to have a “generous amount of advanced driver-assistance features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.”
The overall best hybrid SUV is the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and the Best overall luxury hybrid car is the Lexus NX Hybrid.
