IMPORTANT CRIME NEWS: In a chaotic attack near the southern border, an armed man was shot dead after unleashing an assault on a Texas Border Patrol facility.
The 27-year-old man from Michigan was heavily armed and fired “many dozens of rounds” at agents.
He had a rifle and tactical gear and was killed by police after opening fire at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas.
The incident occurred at the Border Patrol sector annex near McAllen International Airport, just a few miles from the US-Mexico border.
Authorities identified the shooter as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, who had no known criminal record and was reported missing from Weslaco, Texas, hours before the attack.
Mosqueda arrived in Texas in a vehicle with Michigan license plates that had undecipherable spray-painted lettering.
Additional weapons and ammunition were found inside his car after the attack.
McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez confirmed the suspect never made it inside the building but fired “many, many rounds at the building” and directly at agents, who returned fire and killed him.

Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured during the exchange, with one officer shot in the knee. The injured officer is a 10-year veteran of the McAllen Police Department.
The FBI has taken over the investigation, though authorities have not yet classified the incident as terrorism or determined a motive.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the shooter was “neutralized” during the attack, and officials believe there are no further threats to the public.
This brazen attack comes as Border Patrol agents continue to face increasing dangers while attempting to secure America’s southern border amid the ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration.
“Incidents like these make us realize that we’ve to always be on guard to keep our community safe,” said Chief Rodriguez.
The shooting caused significant disruptions to the nearby McAllen International Airport, with all flights delayed as authorities secured the scene.
Local traffic was temporarily rerouted during the active investigation. Officials have confirmed no federal officers were shot or wounded during the incident, though several local officers responded heroically to the threat.
As the investigation continues, Americans are reminded of the dangers faced daily by the brave men and women protecting the nation’s borders.
