CRIME NEWS ALERT: In what appears to be a coordinated attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility, a Texas police officer was shot in the neck.
Alvarado Police Department officers responded to reports of a suspicious person near the ICE Prairieland Detention Facility in Alvarado, Texas.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
When officers attempted to engage the suspect, multiple assailants opened fire, striking one officer in the neck.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, quickly responded to provide backup.
Following the shooting, authorities arrested eight suspects, with some wearing tactical body armor during the attack.
The wounded officer has since been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
Federal investigators believe the attack was not random but a deliberate targeting of the immigration facility.
According to reports, the suspects used fireworks to lure officers to the scene and had vandalized security cameras and vehicles before police arrived.
“We are closely monitoring the attacks on DHS detention facilities in Prairieland, TX, and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the US Attorney offices and our law enforcement partners,” said Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
“The Department [of Justice] has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible,” he added.
The incident marks another consequence of the Biden administration’s open border policies.
It created a dangerous environment for law enforcement officers protecting the nation’s immigration facilities.
This attack comes as President Donald Trump works to address the catastrophic border crisis that saw record numbers of illegal aliens flooding into the country.
While the names of the suspects and their motives remain under investigation, the incident bears hallmarks of radical anti-ICE activism.
The Prairieland Detention Center, located about 40 miles south of Dallas, has been a target of protests by immigration activists in the past.
The brazen attack on law enforcement underscores the growing danger faced by police officers who protect communities and borders.
President Trump’s administration has promised to restore order and respect for law enforcement, with a clear “zero tolerance” policy for attacks on officers and federal facilities.
Alvarado police are asking anyone with information about the attack to come forward as the investigation continues.
