Common sense has finally prevailed as Democrat Senator John Fetterman broke ranks with his party by condemning the violent Los Angeles riots as “anarchy and true chaos.”
The senator’s stance comes at a time when many Democrats remain silent or supportive of protesters clashing with federal immigration authorities.
However, Fetterman stood firm against the destructive demonstrations that included burning vehicles and blocking major highways.
The senator took to social media to denounce the violence erupting across Los Angeles following immigration enforcement operations.
“I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration — but this is not that,” he wrote, sharing images of burning vehicles and chaos. “This is anarchy and true chaos.”
The riots began after federal immigration authorities arrested more than 40 people across Los Angeles.
Protesters responded by blocking a major freeway and setting self-driving cars ablaze, prompting police to deploy tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-bang grenades to restore order.
President Donald Trump took decisive action by federalizing the California National Guard and deploying troops to Los Angeles to quell the violence.
Predictably, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass criticized the troop mobilization.
Additionally, California filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the decision.
Fetterman’s stance represents a growing divide within the Democrat Party, particularly as Kamala Harris expressed support for the protesters.
I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that.
This is anarchy and true chaos.

The failed presidential candidate described protest as a “powerful tool” in the fight for justice.
The contrast could not be clearer between Democrats willing to defend mob violence and those like Fetterman who recognize dangerous lawlessness.
Elon Musk joined conservatives in commending Fetterman’s assessment of the situation.
Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also expressed respect for the senator’s willingness to break with his party’s far-left wing.
This is not the first time Fetterman has distanced himself from radical elements within his party.
He previously criticized anti-Israel protests on college campuses and Democrat missteps during the 2024 presidential election.
Fetterman was recently spotted dining with Trump ally Steve Bannon and Breitbart’s Matt Boyle, further fueling speculation about his increasingly independent stance from Democrat Party.
The senator has emerged as a critic of his party’s positions on Israel and border security, aligning more closely with most Americans on these critical issues.
As the Democrat Party continues its leftward lurch, Fetterman’s commonsense rejection of violence and anarchy stands out as a rare moment of clarity.
His warning about not ceding the moral high ground resonates with Americans tired of seeing city streets burn while Democrat politicians make excuses or remain silent.
Whether this represents a genuine shift in Democrat thinking or merely Fetterman’s personal principles remains to be seen.
