US Asked To “Halt Funding” Supporting Israel War

( – Senator Ted Cruz recently spoke out against the support and funding coming from the United States to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, or UNRWA. He stated that the United States should halt funding this organization because of how it benefits the terrorist organization, Hamas.

UNRWA has been funded by the United States for quite some time now and has actually provided the UNRWA with $1 Billion since 2021.

“UNRWA provides direct benefit to Hamas by distributing resources across the Gaza Strip that go straight into the Hamas war machine, which means their activities pose a direct threat to Israelis and Americans,” Cruz said. “The United States should immediately halt funding to UNRWA and work to replace it with a more responsible organization.”

Biden’s funding is a bit in the middle and many officials claim that the United States is in support of the Hamas terror movement instead of funding the defense of Israel. It has caused a huge amount of controversy.

Cruz continued to attack the United States funding, saying, “Nobody denies that aid that goes into the Gaza Strip. When Joe Biden became president, his administration knew that restarting aid to UNRWA would illegally benefit Hamas terrorists, but they gave themselves exemptions from anti-terrorism laws and did it anyway.”

Some people back the UNRWA saying that they do important work. John Kirby, a U.N National Security Council spokesman said, “They’re doing a lot of work, and they’re doing it in harm’s way – very much so in harm’s way.”

However, many are investigating the specifics of the organization to see if UNRWA has good intentions in the Middle East. A Fox Digital report stated that many teachers and students from UNRWA schools were praising the attacks that happened on October 7th, 2023.

Despite these accusations, a spokeswoman for UNRWA said, “Attacks such as these attempt to discredit the Agency despite the lifesaving work it carries out. The latest video, circulating on X, attempts to link UNRWA’s education system to violence, using clips of alleged ‘UNRWA’ students and teachers.”

UNRWA schools and hospitals have served as storage facilities for Hamas weapons, and this is just one of the controversies surrounding the organization. As others have stated, the United States has no control over what the UNRWA is using the funds for, and this includes the use of their facilities to house Hamas soldiers or weapons.
