United States Beats China in Olympic Medals Table Again

(VitalNews.org) – China and the United States tied in the contest for the most gold medals won at the Paris Olympics with a forty to forty score.

However, the United States beat China again at the medals table as the U.S. had one hundred and twenty six total medals whereas China had ninety one. The top five countries at the Paris Olympics were the United States, China, Britain, France, and then Australia.

The United States got first place, but both the U.S. and China have increased their number of total medals and gold medals.

France and Australia were in the top five, which was predicted, but Japan surprised many as they were in third place with twenty gold medals out of forty-five total medals.

China won all eight of the gold medals that were handed out at the Olympic Aquatics Center. and they won five golds in shooting, table tennis, and weightlifting. The table tennis victory is what gave China their three-hundredth gold medal.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own world record in the four hundred meter hurdles. Simone Biles added to her fame by winning four more medals. Katie Ledecky, leading the swimmers, won eight gold medals during her competition.

Four of Germany’s gold medals came from Isabell Werth. Summer McIntosh got three gold swimming medals and a silver medal for Canada. Armand Duplantis, pole vaulter, won one of Sweden’s four gold medals.

Manu Bhaker won two of India’s six medals and she became the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting.
