United States Arms Ukraine with Seized Weapons from Iran

(VitalNews.org) – The United States has reportedly transferred thousands of weapons and over five hundred thousand rounds of ammunition to Ukraine; all of it seized from Iran when they attempted to give them to Houthi forces.

The transfer occurred at the beginning of the month and was the latest military assistance provided to Kyiv by the U.S. Biden has been blocked by U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson from sending more weapons to Kyiv because he refused to vote on new security assistance.

According to social media posts, the weapons included thousands of AK-47 rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. “This constitutes enough material to equip one Ukrainian brigade with small arms rifles,” the statement said.

Iran said that they “cannot comment on weapons and armaments that have never belonged to us,” denying that the weapons were theirs.

Many officials have said that the outlook for Ukraine could be bad without help from the U.S.

“Success for Ukraine and failure for Putin are vital for American and European security,” said British Foreign Secretary David Cameron as he urged the United States to pass a Ukraine aid package.

Zelenskyy has said that if there is no help from the U.S. then they will have to start pulling back, saying, “If there is no US support, it means that we have no air defense, no Patriot missiles, no jammers for electronic warfare, no 155-millimeter artillery rounds.”

Zelenskyy has said that they intend to advance the frontline to keep Russia from coming into Ukraine’s big cities.
