(VitalNews.org) – The Biden Administration is awarding over three billion dollars to United States companies to boost production of advanced electric vehicle batteries. This is another push to dominate over China’s global dominance of electric vehicle batteries.
These grants will help to fund twenty-five projects across fourteen states; this will include funding for battleground states such as North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Louisiana, Michigan, and Ohio. These grants are the second round of EV battery funding with the first being almost two billion dollars for fourteen projects that are still ongoing.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been putting in an effort to boost the production of EV batteries and sales of electric vehicles to help slow climate change and also build up the United States’ manufacturing. The Biden Administration has been putting in a lot of effort to pass legislation that would slow climate change.
White House economic adviser Lael Brainard said, “Today’s awards move us closer to achieving the administration’s goal of building an end-to-end supply chain for batteries and critical minerals here in America, from mining to processing to manufacturing and recycling, which is vital to reduce China’s dominance of this critical sector.”
He continued to say that the Biden-Harris administration is “committed to making batteries in the United States that are going to be vital for powering our grid, our homes and businesses and America’s iconic auto industry.”
There’s also been a push to help produce more in the electric vehicle department after there were extra tariffs being put on Chinese electric vehicle imports to the United States.
