(VitalNews.org) – The well-oiled Republican machine is working in President Donald Trump’s favor as the Senate voted to confirm another of his cabinet picks.

Specifically, former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been sworn in as Director of National Intelligence.

Recognizing her unwavering commitment to national security, President Trump attended her swearing-in ceremony at the White House and said, “There’s nobody like her for this job.”

Known for her outspoken criticism of the intelligence community’s overreach, Gabbar will now oversee 18 intelligence agencies.

President Trump’s bold choice signals a new era of accountability and transparency in America’s intelligence apparatus.

The Senate confirmed Gabbard with a 52-48 vote, showcasing the fierce battle between those who seek to protect American interests and those clinging to the status quo.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune praised Gabbard as a “patriot” committed to refocusing the intelligence community on its core mission.

“The intelligence community needs to refocus on its core mission, collecting intelligence and providing unbiased analysis of that information. That’s what Tulsi Gabbard is committed to ensuring,” Thune stated.

Gabbard’s appointment faced mounting resistance from the Washington establishment.

Still bitter from her departure from their party, Democrats opposed her confirmation over baseless claims of “Russian propaganda.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s criticism only served to highlight the party’s desperation to maintain control over the intelligence apparatus.

“We cannot in good conscience trust our most classified secrets to someone who echoes Russian propaganda and falls for conspiracy theories,” Schumer stated.

Although Gabbard lacks formal intelligence experience, her military background and clear-eyed view of national security challenges make her an ideal choice to lead the intelligence community.

Gabbard’s confirmation hearing also addressed and discussed her past defense of Edward Snowden.

In her first statement as DNI, Gabbard emphasized the need for accurate and unbiased intelligence and pledged to focus on the intelligence community’s core mission.

She acknowledged the public’s lack of trust in these agencies and vowed to restore faith by rooting out politicization and returning to fact-based assessments.

Former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was the sole Republican to oppose Gabbard’s confirmation.

He said, “The nation should not have to worry that the intelligence assessments the President receives are tainted by a Director of National Intelligence with a history of alarming lapses in judgment.”

However, Gabbard’s appointment has been seen as the decisive factor signaling that the days of unchecked intelligence community power are over.

As Gabbard takes the helm of the nation’s intelligence apparatus, President Trump firmly believes that national security is in capable hands.
