(VitalNews.org) – Donald Trump has now leaned into religious extremism as he tries to energize his socially conservative Christian supporters. Trump has been facing a hard challenge as Joe Biden stepped out of the presidential race and Kamala Harris has stepped into his place.
There have been fears around Donald Trump and what exactly his presidency would be like, especially after telling a group of Christians that they “wouldn’t have to vote” in four years if he gets elected. Author of The Violent Take It by Force: The Christian Movement That Is Threatening Our Democracy, Matthew D Taylor, said, “My theory would be that since Harris has entered the race, Trump has recognized that he’s on shakier ground.”
He states that Trump is dialing it up for the religious people who are supporting him, and because of Trump’s continuous support of certain legislation, Christians have undoubtedly been a fan of him.
At the beginning of Trump’s first term, many had issues with what he said and how he represented the Christian religion. Since then, Trump has tried connecting more with this demographic after saying some not-so-likable things during his first term.
As Trump has received backlash for appointing JD Vance to run with him, he has poked for support from Christians. Some have even compared him to the Messiah and said that he was sent here directly by God. He continues in his rallies to relate to Christians and prioritize the demographic by pushing an extremist narrative.
