(VitalNews.org) -Just as President-elect Donald Trump started revealing his cabinet choices for his upcoming administration, the left launched a vicious attack against one of his picks.
Former Democrat National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz baselessly attacked Tulsi Gabbard, calling her a “Russian asset.”
Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran and former congresswoman, is Trump’s pick for Director of National Intelligence.
Wasserman Schultz’s attack came during an appearance on MSNBC’s “José Díaz-Balart Reports.”
She said, “[Gabbard] is considered to be essentially by most assessments, a Russian asset and would be the most dangerous.”
Wasserman Schultz’s words raised concerns about the left’s desperate attempts to undermine Trump’s administration before it even begins.
This accusation comes as Trump decided Gabbard would lead the U.S. intelligence community, recognizing her service to the nation and her commitment to putting America first.
As DNI, Gabbard would oversee the U.S. intelligence community and advise the president on critical security matters.
Wasserman Schultz’s unfounded allegations stem from Gabbard’s past actions, including a 2017 meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
However, some argue that this diplomatic engagement shows Gabbard’s willingness to pursue peace and understanding in complex geopolitical situations rather than blindly following the establishment’s agenda.
The attack on Gabbard is not new. Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton previously referred to Gabbard as a “favorite of the Russians” during the 2020 presidential campaign.
This recycling of baseless claims has been seen as the Democratic elite’s coordinated effort to discredit anyone who challenges their narrative.
Ironically, Wasserman Schultz’s credibility in making such accusations is questionable at best.
