Trump Cuts Funding – PBS and NPR BLOCKED!

Hand holding a disintegrating hundred dollar bill.

Taking bold action to end taxpayer funding for liberal media outlets, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to cut federal funding for PBS and NPR.

The president’s decisive move targets what the White House called “radical, woke propaganda disguised as ‘news'” being spread with millions of taxpayer dollars.

Conservative lawmakers and supporters have long criticized these organizations for their leftist bias.

The executive order directs the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other federal agencies “to cease Federal funding for NPR and PBS”.

It requires them to eliminate indirect public financing sources for these news organizations.

President Trump specifically cited “biased and partisan news coverage” as the main reason for the cuts, stating that neither organization provides fair or accurate reporting on current events.

“Which viewpoints NPR and PBS promote does not matter,” the president declared in the order.

He made it clear that, regardless of content, taxpayers should not foot the bill for media organizations in today’s diverse media landscape.

The White House further highlighted the outdated nature of federal funding for news media, arguing that such arrangements undermine journalistic independence rather than enhance it.

This move aligns with President Trump’s longstanding criticism of biased media organizations using government resources to push liberal agendas.

The president had previously written on Truth Social about the cuts, calling the news organizations “RADICAL LEFT ‘MONSTERS’ THAT SO BADLY HURT OUR COUNTRY!”

While NPR and PBS claim the funding cuts would impact their operations, the financial reality tells a different story.

NPR’s own director admitted that Corporation for Public Broadcasting funding would account for “less than 5% of its budget” in 2025.

Additionally, NPR has stated that less than 1% of its funding comes directly from public sources, raising questions about why taxpayers should subsidize these well-funded media operations at all.

The funding cut comes after former NPR editor Uri Berliner recently exposed the organization’s liberal bias.

Though Berliner did not support defunding NPR, his criticism highlighted that these supposedly “neutral” public broadcasters consistently promote progressive viewpoints while marginalizing conservative perspectives.

Looking ahead, the White House plans to ask Congress to officially rescind funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as part of a larger $9.1 billion budget cut package.

The CPB has already filed a lawsuit against President Trump for firing three board members.

While critics claim this move threatens “press freedom,” many conservatives view it as a necessary step to protect taxpayers from funding biased reporting.

With NPR reaching over 40 million listeners weekly and PBS reaching 36 million viewers monthly, these organizations have significant influence over American public opinion.

Ultimately, President Trump’s order ensures that American taxpayers who disagree with its editorial stance will no longer subsidize this influence.
