Tom Cotton Claims Biden Admin Acts Like “Lovestruck Teenagers” with China

( – Two Republican politicians have independently slammed the Biden administration for projecting weakness in the face of increased Chinese aggression. This comes after a series of events initiated by China that have caused diplomatic turmoil in American politics – the Chinese weather/spy balloon saga, which was closely followed by the revelations concerning secret Chinese overseas police stations, and more recently the buzzing of U.S. reconnaissance aircraft by Chinese fighter jets and the approach of a U.S. destroyer by a Chinese warship in the Taiwan Strait.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) compared Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his team to “lovestruck teenagers” after they attended a conference in Singapore and shook hands with the Chinese Defence Secretary Li Shangfu. He described the encounter at the annual defense and security forum as “embarrassing and pathetic”, saying that the last thing America should be doing at this time is “projecting weakness.”

His remarks coincided with those of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) who commented on the extent of “Chinese aggression” during the course of a recent news interview. He said that the Biden administration needs to stand up to the increasingly provocative actions of a country that is looking more and more like an adversary each day that passes.

He recalled that President Xi Jinping, the Chinese leader had cryptically stated during a recent meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin that China is looking to “make changes that have not happened in over a century”, something which Turner said should be construed as an attempt to gain regional – and eventually global – domination. “I strongly urge this administration to develop some backbone and stand up to this aggression,” he said.

The flexing of political muscles by China in this way in order to advance the cause of authoritarianism and totalitarianism is not restricted to the United States. For example, secret Chinese police stations have been discovered to be operating all across Europe, including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.
