(VitalNews.org) – With the arrival of the New Year, we are still dealing with our last recall of 2023 landing on New Year’s Eve with thousands of pounds of ground beef. Valley Meats LLC announced on December 31 that they have recalled 6,700 pounds of ground beef because of a possible E. coli contamination.
The agency wrote, “The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that samples of ground beef products submitted to a third-party laboratory for microbiological analysis tested positive for E. coli.”
The ground beef came from the Coal Valley, Illinois-based manufacturer and was produced on December 23, 2023. The ground beef was sent to distributors in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa to be served mainly in businesses and restaurants.
The products shipped will have an establishment number of EST. 5712 which will be shown on the USDA label. Although there is a recall, there have been no reports of any adverse reactions by the public. The agency is concerned that contaminated products may still be in the restaurant’s freezers or fridges and they encourage restaurants to get rid of it.

The agency said “not to serve these products” and instead throw them out or return them from where they were purchased.
