Senator Menendez Hires Hunter Biden Attorney

(VitalNews.org) – Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, who was indicted on charges of federal corruption last week, just enlisted Abbe Lowell to represent him in his case, who’s also defending President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, on his tax fraud and gun charges.

Last week, the US attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York hit Menendez and his wife with an indictment charging the couple of accepting federal bribes in exchange for using the senator’s “power and influence” to enrich three businessmen in New Jersey.

Menendez announced this week that he will be represented by Lowell, which won’t be the first time. Lowell represented Menendez in 2015 after the senator was charged with illegally accepting gifts from an eye doctor in Florida in exchange for favors. Menendez was acquitted and the charges were dropped in 2018, although the Senate Ethics Committee admonished him.

Lowell is also currently working for Hunter Biden as the first son dealing with tax fraud charges and a gun violation. He became involved with the case after the proposed sweetheart plea deal fell through resulting in the withdrawal of Hunter Biden’s previous head lawyer.

Some other interesting clients of Lowell include former President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband Jared Kushner, whom Lowell represented in 2017. He also helped the former president’s son-in-law obtain a permanent security clearance at the White House.

Menendez held a press conference on Monday and addressed the indictment of himself and his wife, refusing to step down and pleading with those calling for his resignation to wait for all the facts to emerge before jumping to conclusions. He denied that the thousands of dollars in cash and gold bars found hidden in his residence were not from bribes. The hidden money was discovered after the FBI raided Menendez’s home in June 2022.
