REVERSAL – $350 Million For Police!

Handcuffs on a pile of one hundred dollar bills.

(VitalNews.org) – Colorado voters have spoken, and they are saying “enough” to the leftist agenda of defunding the police.

In a resounding victory for law and order, voters in Colorado approved Proposition 130, which will inject $350 million into the police department.

This move marks a decisive shift away from the disastrous “defund the police” movement, proving that citizens prioritize their safety over woke policies even in a blue state.

The approval of Proposition 130 comes as a much-needed response to the alarming surge in crime rates across Colorado.

Aurora and Colorado Springs have witnessed record homicide rates, while Denver’s murder rate has skyrocketed over the past decade.

These grim statistics serve as a reminder of the consequences of the soft-on-crime policies that liberal politicians champion.

Joe Gamaldi of the Fraternal Order of Police praised the funding initiative, calling it “a really positive step to show law enforcement that they are supported.”

Gamaldi added that “nothing in our communities works unless we have a bedrock platform of public safety.”

The $350 million investment will be channeled into crucial law enforcement areas, including recruitment, training and retention.

This substantial funding boost comes from the state’s general fund, ensuring that hardworking taxpayers will not bear additional financial burdens.

Predictably, critics of the measure are already crying foul by claiming that the funding could detract from other public services.

They have gone as far as comparing the amount to “6,000 teacher salaries” and the entire affordable housing budget.

However, these naysayers fail to understand that no amount of spending on education or housing will make a difference without safe streets and communities.

The Wheat Ridge police department sees the potential for career growth opportunities with this additional funding.

Proposition 130 was not the only victory for law and order on the ballot. Voters also approved Proposition 128, which mandates that violent offenders serve 85% of their sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Furthermore, Colorado voters restored judges’ ability to revoke bail for first-degree murder charges.

This crucial decision gives the justice system the tools it needs to keep the most dangerous offenders off the streets while awaiting trial rather than allowing them to roam free on technicalities.
