Pope Francis Speaks Out Against U.S. Presidential Nominees

(VitalNews.org) – Pope Francis has spoken out against the two presidential nominees for the United States following their debate. The Pope stated that United States voters will have to choose between the “lesser of two evils.”

He specifically states that Donald Trump’s anti-migrant policies and Kamala Harris’ abortion rights policies both go “against life.”

Said Francis, “One must choose the lesser of two evils. Who is the lesser of two evils? That lady or that gentleman? I don’t know.” He continued, “Everyone with a conscience should think on this and do it.”

Francis has been more vocal about politics and he’s moved to make the Catholic Church more open and inviting. He has often agreed with the Catholic Church’s teaching that abortion is destroying life, but he’s also stated that this cannot be isolated from other human life issues like immigration.

The Pope said, “To send migrants away, to leave them wherever you want, to leave them … it’s something terrible, there is evil there. To send away a child from the womb of the mother is an assassination, because there is life. We must speak about these things clearly.”

He has spoken out previously about other political issues like when Trump brought up the plan to build a wall to stop migrants, he said that this was “not Christian.”

United States Catholics have a range of views when it comes to politics; a little over fifty percent of them say that they lean Republican while forty-four percent say that they lean Democrat. Sixty percent of Catholics have also said that they believe an option for abortion should be legal in all or most cases.
