In response, the New Mexico National Guard has heroically stepped up, rescuing over 300 citizens from rising waters.

Record-breaking rainfall of 5.78 inches has overwhelmed the city, shattering a record that stood for over a century.

The event has transformed streets into rivers, sweeping away vehicles and flooding homes and businesses.

Amid the chaos, the New Mexico National Guard has become a beacon of hope after deploying 57 guardsmen and tactical vehicles designed to navigate deep waters.

Patriotic service members have rescued 309 people, 38 of whom required hospitalization.

The flooding has exposed vulnerabilities in infrastructure, with roads to and from Roswell being closed due to high water levels.

“We’ve worked all night and continue to work with swift water rescue teams and other partner agencies to help our fellow citizens get to safety,” said Maj. Gen. Miguel Aguilar.

“We feel for the New Mexicans affected by this latest flooding in our state,” expressed Aguilar added.

As Roswell battles this crisis, the Eastern New Mexico state fairgrounds have been converted into a shelter for displaced residents.
