(VitalNews.org) – Americans beware! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) latest report on norovirus outbreaks exposes an alarming trend.

According to the CDC, norovirus outbreaks have nearly doubled in just a few weeks, jumping from 69 cases in late November to 91 in early December.

This alarming increase is more than double the highest number recorded between 2021 and 2024, signaling a potential health crisis that demands immediate attention.

While the mainstream media downplays the severity of this “stomach bug,” the facts paint a grimmer picture.

Norovirus is responsible for a staggering 58% of foodborne illnesses in the United States each year.

In fact, it is not just a minor inconvenience but a serious threat to the nation’s health and productivity.

The virus spreads like wildfire in areas packed with people, particularly in cruise ships filled with tourists, overcrowded nursing homes and public schools.

The impact on American families is severe. Each year, norovirus causes up to 21 million illnesses, around 109,000 hospitalizations and 900 deaths.

It also hugely affects young children and the elderly, causing nearly a million pediatric medical visits per year.

Only 15 states participate in the National Outbreak Reporting System, and individual cases are not mandatorily reported to the CDC.

This underreporting could be masking the true extent of the problem, allowing it to spread unchecked.
