New Information Regarding Secret Service During Attempted Assassination

(VitalNews.org) – The Secret Service is facing a lot of backlash following a second Donald Trump attempted assassination. According to the Secret Service, they have four hundred fewer employees than what Congress has authorized.

The Secret Service’s budget calls for over eight thousand workers, but as of February this year, there were under eight thousand employees working for them. Former agent Bill Gage said, “The Secret Service does not have the resources, it doesn’t have the bodies.”

The last attempted Donald Trump assassination occurred while at Trump’s golf course where a gunman was spotted and chased down by the Secret Service. The suspect, Ryan Routh, was taken into custody shortly after these events unfolded.

The Secret Service has spoken out previously that Donald Trump’s desire to play golf at his own golf courses poses issues when it comes to securing the area. They also have said that past presidents, like Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, have played on military golf courses that could be shut down to the public.

Agents also spoke out about how they have been stretching their staff further as they’ve had to expand their protective coverage since Joe Biden stepped out of the presidential race.

According to Kenneth Valentine, a former agent, “The pace, the expectations, the pressure has never been worse than it is right now.”

The agency has had issues with staffing as only two percent of applicants are hired for the position because of how demanding it is, and many of them also are looking for more lucrative positions.
