(VitalNews.org) – Elon Musk’s satellite-based internet service provider Starlink has backtracked, now saying that they would comply with a Brazilian Supreme Court Judge’s orders to block platform X in their country.

Starlink said in a statement on X that it will comply with Justice Alexandre de Moraes’ orders despite him having frozen company assets. This is a change since the company originally said that it would not comply until de Moraes reversed course.

A statement from the company said, “Regardless of the illegal treatment of Starlink in freezing our assets, we are complying with the order to block access to X in Brazil.”

“We continue to pursue all legal avenues, as are others who agree that @alexandre’s recent order violates the Brazilian constitution.”

De Moraes froze Starlink’s accounts as a means to get them to cover X’s fines, which exceed three million dollars. Starlink then filed an appeal but they haven’t spoken out about the situation much since.

The justice continued to order the suspension of social media platform X in the country of Brazil, because they wouldn’t name a local legal representative. A Supreme Court panel unanimously continued to uphold the block, undermining Musk and his efforts.

Arthur Coimbra, an Anatoly Board Member, said that if Starlink continued to disobey the orders from de Moraes by providing access, they could have seized equipment of over twenty ground states.

Some legal experts have spoken against de Moraes’ move to block X since SpaceX and Starlink have no integration with the social media platform X. However, X has continually clashed with Moraes over their reluctance to block users. They have said that he wants an in-country legal representative so that Brazilian authorities have leverage over the company after arresting someone.
