LA Times SHOCKER - New Conservative Member!

(VitalNews.org) – The Los Angeles Times has shocked its conservative audience in the best way possible by announcing that commentator Scott Jennings has joined its editorial board.

This bombshell decision marks the beginning of a significant shift in the paper’s approach to political coverage.

This move comes as the newspaper’s owner calls for more conservative voices to balance opinion pieces.

Jennings, a former President George W. Bush aide and a CNN contributor since 2017, announced his new role on the social platform X.

He said he intended to represent Americans who feel ignored or ridiculed by legacy media, a sentiment that resonates with conservatives who have long felt marginalized by mainstream news outlets.

“It’s true – I’ve accepted @DrPatSoonShiong invitation to join the editorial board of the @latimes,” Jennings declared, signaling a new era for the newspaper’s opinion section.

The decision to bring Jennings on board aligns with Los Angeles Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong’s goal to balance opinion pieces by incorporating more conservative voices.

“I think it’s important for us to differentiate the editorial board is responsible for these opinions on these voices,” Dr. Soon-Shiong explained.

“So, right now, we don’t have an editorial board if we are truly honest about ourselves that are balanced. And so, I’ve gotten beaten up about fair and balance,” he added.

Jennings’ appointment follows the Los Angeles Times’ controversial decision not to endorse a candidate in the presidential election.

The unprecedented move drew sharp criticism from readers across the political spectrum.

This lack of endorsement and the addition of a conservative voice like Jennings suggest a significant change in the paper’s operations.

“I plan to represent those Americans who believe they are often ignored or even ridiculed in legacy media and applaud Dr. Soon-Shiong’s move to bring balance to the editorial board,” Jennings stated.

This new appointment will not affect Jennings’ other professional roles, including his position at CNN.

“I approach my commentary jobs by starting with the truth and then providing my honest opinion based on my conservative values and experience,” Jennings remarked.

“I think Dr. Soon-Shiong is doing something important and groundbreaking and am honored he asked me to play a role in that,” Jennings concluded.
