(VitalNews.org) – Thinking he could sneak into America and do as he pleased, a patriotic judge swiftly shot down an illegal alien’s blatant attempt at securing Second Amendment rights.
Carlos Serrano-Restrepo, an illegal alien living in Ohio, found himself on the wrong side of the justice system after buying at least 22 guns while falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen on forms.
This clear disregard for American law caught the attention of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, leading to a shocking discovery.
When agents raided Serrano-Restrepo’s home, they uncovered an alarming arsenal: around 170 firearms, tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and smoke/marine markers.
This huge collection raises serious questions about the alien’s intentions that led him to possess such an extensive cache of weapons.
Serrano-Restrepo entered the U.S. illegally in 2008 and had been living here for over 15 years. He attempted to hide behind the Second Amendment to escape justice.
His lawyers argued that any charges should have been dismissed based on the constitutional right to bear arms.
However, the judge saw through this ploy, writing that “disarming unlawful immigrants like Mr. Serrano-Restrepo who have not sworn allegiance to the United States comports with the Nation’s history and tradition of firearm regulations.”
The judge continued, “Mr. Serrano-Restrepo’s as-applied challenge lacks merit. The swearing of an oath of allegiance occurs through the naturalization process, not through his asylum application or his years of living in the United States.”
The judge’s decision underscores a fundamental truth that liberals often ignore: the rights enshrined in our Constitution are not universal handouts.
The case also highlights the dangerous loopholes in our immigration system. Despite his illegal status, Serrano-Restrepo managed to establish a fire and flooding damage remediation business.
While Serrano-Restrepo claimed some firearms were for self-defense, the massive quantity discovered suggests otherwise. He awaits his trial, set for January 21, 2025.
