(VitalNews.org) – Kamala Harris officially accepted the Democratic presidential nomination at the Democratic National Convention.
Her speech accepting the nomination included a vow to carry the country to a brighter and more fair future, speaking about America’s promise and focusing on the change needed in the country.
Said Harris, “Our nation, with this election, has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism and divisive battles of the past, a chance to chart a new way forward – not as members of any one party or faction, but as Americans.”
She continued, “On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination for president of the United States of America.”
This acceptance of the nomination is just one month after Harris launched her campaign following Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race. Harris had great luck in gaining the support of voters after Biden’s endorsement of the Vice President.
Harris warned of how the re-election of Donald Trump would resurrect “chaos and calamity” from his first term. She also spoke of the legal battles Trump is facing and reminded voters of his part in the U.S. Capitol attack and the attempt to overturn the 2020 election results.
She continued to speak of Trump’s immense power and how he was granted immunity from criminal prosecution. She chanted “We’re not going back!”
The nomination was a monumental moment for Harris and her campaign, as it has brought her one step closer to claiming the presidency. The acceptance speech also allowed her to define herself for voters and speak to them directly about her vision for the future.
