GOP Lawmakers Seek Information From Secret Service on Biden Visitors

GOP Lawmakers Seek Answers From Secret Service on Biden

(VitalNews.org) – President Joe Biden’s attorneys, at the beginning of November 2022, reportedly found classified documents while cleaning out an office he had used at the Penn Biden Center before he was president. According to reports, they immediately turned the papers over to the National Archives and notified the Department of Justice. Several other caches of documents have been found at the president’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, since then. Now, Republicans want to know who had access to those locations.

On January 23, Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) wrote a letter to US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle asking her to supply them with a list of visitors to Biden’s home in Delaware by February 2. The legislators stated there were reports indicating the secret service already had a list of individuals.

Fox News reported recently that the White House Counsel’s Office had said no such visitor log for the president’s personal residence existed. At the time, officials told the outlet no president in “modern history” kept track of the people coming and going at their private home. The same was true for Biden.

However, according to The Hill, Johnson and Grassley recently claimed the Secret Service indeed kept track and was prepared to provide the information upon request. The Washington Examiner reported in an exclusive this week that the Secret Service was aware of the request and working to accommodate it.

On January 20, the FBI searched Biden’s home, finding even more classified documents dating back to the president’s time in the Senate. The Hill reported that Johnson responded to the ongoing saga, saying with all the years Biden had under his belt in politics, he should have known how to handle sensitive information.

Attorney General Merrick Garland assigned Special Counsel Robert Hur to oversee the Biden classified documents case on January 12. According to The Associated Press, Mr. Hur promised to be “fair” and “impartial” during his investigation into the matter. Biden’s lawyer, Richard Sauber, assured that the president plans to cooperate fully with the review process.
