(VitalNews.org) – Disney is following Netflix in their effort to crack down on password sharing for the streaming platform. They’ve told subscribers that people outside of their household need to sign up for their own subscriptions.
“Your Disney+ subscription is meant to be used within your household, which is a collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside there,” the company said.
They continued to say that those who aren’t living in your home “will need to sign up and pay for their own subscription or be added as an extra member to your account for an additional fee.”
They’ve said that those who are traveling or just have moved can still access their accounts by getting a one-time passcode sent to their email so they can login.
Disney’s increased price comes with increased United States prices that are coming mid October. Disney has also raised prices for their multiservice bundles, Hulu, and ESPN+.
Disney+ with ads will raise two dollars in price and Disney+ Premium, with no ads, will also go up two dollars as well. They are offering the option for an additional profile which will allow someone to access your account, with their profile for the added charge amount.
The company will be cracking down on password sharing for both Hulu and ESPN as well after both streaming services cautioned viewers this year about sharing their login information with people outside of their home.
Netflix was the first to make an official change and announcement on how they would no longer let viewers share passwords despite them once encouraging password sharing to get more viewers.
