Countries Warn Others About Traveling to United Kingdom Among Riots

(VitalNews.org) – Multiple countries have issued travel and safety warnings to their citizens about visiting the United Kingdom as they deal with riots and street disorderly conduct.

India is one of the most recent countries to issue a warning. The High Commission of India in London warned visitors to “stay vigilant and exercise caution during their travels” as they deal with “disturbances” in some parts of the U.K.

Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia have all put out travel warnings to their citizens about visiting the country. The country has been dealing with many riots as anti-immigration protests continue.

Multiple cities across the United Kingdom, including Liverpool and Manchester, have seen violence on the streets as far right groups continue to clash with police officers. The riots began a week ago and almost four hundred arrests have been made.

The UAE’s foreign ministry said “to exercise the highest level of caution, and take the necessary precautions, in light of the unstable security situation in various cities across the U.K.”

Australia issued a similar statement to citizens and told them to avoid areas where protests are taking place. Malaysia has warned their nationals not to travel to the U.K. at all.

“Demand for travel to Britain remains strong and we continue to welcome many millions of visitors from all over the world,” said a VisitBritain spokesperson. “We are working closely with our overseas teams to monitor travel sentiment and to ensure our international travel trade partners have the latest information available, as necessary.”

The riots were initially sparked after false claims rose that a mass stabbing that killed three girls was done by a Muslim asylum seeker.
