Congress Pushes for Retaliation After Air Strike on US

( – After a drone strike in Jordan on Sunday, three American service members, all from Georgia, were killed. This drone strike has prompted military officials and congressional leaders to look into retaliation against the Iran-backed militants that are believed to be behind the drone attack.

This drone strike has marked the first death of U.S. troops since the October 7 attack, which claimed the lives of some U.S. military troops. With this being said, officials are looking to the Biden Administration to step up and plan a retaliation on the country that sent the drone strikes. United States officials reportedly said that the strike hit an American outpost in Jordan, Tower 22, which is near the Syrian border.

They stated that there were three U.S. troops killed and about 30 troops injured due to the attack.

The White House has been in a controversial position since they have been aiding Israel during their conflict with Hamas, but they are trying to keep the conflict under control as they don’t want the war in the Middle East to get even worse.

Iran at the moment has not mentioned anything about the attacks and they have not claimed or denied responsibility. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General CQ Brown Jr, spoke out saying that he did not think that Iran wanted to spark a war with the United States.

Republican lawmakers are upset with the lack of response from the Biden Administration and many of them are looking for immediate retaliation against Iran for the attacks.

Republican House Speaker from Louisiana, Mike Johnson, wrote on X saying, “We are saddened by the loss of three American heroes in Jordan last night, and we are praying for their families and for the … other service members who have been injured. America must send a crystal clear message across the globe that attacks on our troops will not be tolerated.”

These feelings were shared by the Democratic House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, who posted on X, “Heartbroken and outraged by the death of three U.S. service members and the wounding of many others during the horrific terrorist attack in the Middle East. Praying hard for all affected. Every single malignant actor responsible must be held accountable.”

Other officials spoke out saying that they wanted Biden to strike areas of significance for the country. Some of them feel that Iran will not give up on their aggression and push for violence in other countries, so eliminating targets may not get the response they want out of Iran.
