China Asking For Support on Peace Plan With Brazil and Ukraine

(VitalNews.org) – China has asked for more countries to endorse its peace plan for Ukraine after Indonesia, Brazil, and South Africa joined in on the diplomacy.

Envoy Li Hui called the three countries representatives of the Global South and “important forces in promoting world peace” who have similar positions as China.

Li, China’s special envoy for Eurasian affairs, said, “They have maintained communication with both Russia and Ukraine and stay committed to a political settlement to the crisis through dialogue and negotiation.”

China and Brazil have come up with a joint peace plan that calls for a peace conference with Ukraine and Russia with no expansion of the battlefield.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that China had pressured countries not to attend the peace summit in Switzerland.

Last month, tensions rose higher as Ukraine attacked Kursk in Russia, a surprise move that caught Russia off guard. Li added, “All sides are worried that the West continues to relax conditions for Ukraine to strike the Russian territory with aided weapons.”

The United States and NATO have labeled China as an enabler of Russia throughout the war with Ukraine. Jens Stotenberg, NATO Secretary-General, said that China provides equipment, microelectronics, and tools that enable “Russia to build the missles, to build the bombs, to build the aircraft, to build the weapons they use to attack Ukraine.”

However, on the other hand, the United States has been blamed for continuing the war by supplying aid continuously to Ukraine in the form of weapons. The relationship between China and the United States is especially rocky now as the U.S. continues to put strict sanctions on Chinese exports.
