Specifically, Chinese spies stole vital military secrets, including HIMARS weapon information, for mere thousands of dollars.
What is truly alarming is how easily enemies penetrated one of America’s most secure military installations at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Two active-duty US Army soldiers, Jian Zhao and Li Tian, along with former soldier Ruoyu Duan, were arrested following an extensive FBI and Army Intelligence Command investigation.
The arrests came after federal grand juries in Oregon and Washington issued indictments charging the trio with conspiracy, bribery of public officials, and theft of government property.
Zhao faces the most serious charges, including transmitting national defense information to unauthorized recipients in China.
Since August 2024, he has received at least $15,000 for selling classified hard drives marked “SECRET” and “TOP SECRET.”
The devices contained sensitive military information, including data on the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS, a crucial weapon currently being used to defend against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Tian and Duan operated their own espionage scheme, stealing technical manuals and sensitive information about America’s Bradley and Stryker armored fighting vehicles.
Their operation began in November 2021 and continued until December 2024, showing a long-term commitment to undermining American military readiness while strengthening China’s capabilities.
“The defendants arrested today are accused of betraying our country, actively working to weaken America’s defense capabilities and empowering our adversaries in China. They will face swift, severe, and comprehensive justice,” said US Attorney General Pam Bondi.
This case highlights the growing threat of Communist China’s aggressive espionage operations targeting American military personnel and critical defense technologies.
For years, conservatives have warned about China’s ambitions to replace America as the world’s dominant superpower, and these arrests confirm those warnings were justified.
What is particularly disturbing is how easily these traitors were able to steal and transmit highly sensitive information.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of Chinese espionage against America’s military and industrial sectors that intensified under Joe Biden.
Brigadier General Rhett R. Cox, the commanding general of the Army Counterintelligence Command, said, “These arrests underscore the persistent and increasing foreign intelligence threat facing our Army and nation.”
What makes this betrayal even more outrageous is how little these traitors charged for America’s defense secrets.
Zhao sold out his country for a mere $15,000, while Tian and Duan handed over critical vehicle specs for similar amounts.
These were not sophisticated operations but simply blatant acts of treason committed by individuals who were supposed to be protecting the nation’s security.
FBI Director Kash Patel did not mince words about the threat:
“While bribery and corruption have thrived under China’s Communist Party, this behavior cannot be tolerated with our service members who are entrusted with sensitive military information, including national defense information.”
