(VitalNews.org) – BREAKING NEWS: Another incident in American skies has sparked an urgent search operation as a Bering Air plane carrying 10 passengers has vanished over treacherous Alaskan waters.
The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX, a single-engine propeller plane widely used in Alaska, was en route from Unalakleet to Nome when it disappeared.
The flight, typically less than an hour long, was last tracked at 5,300 feet, having covered over 70% of its route.
The U.S. Coast Guard reported that contact was lost when the plane was 12 miles offshore.
Search and rescue efforts are currently underway, with a C-130 Coast Guard plane flying a grid pattern over the area.
However, the liberal-run state government’s lack of investment in proper search and rescue equipment is hindering these efforts.
The Nome Volunteer Fire Department is conducting an active ground search from Nome and White Mountain, covering a 30-mile stretch along the coast.
“Due to weather and visibility, we are limited on air search at the current time. National Guard and Coast Guard and Troopers have been notified and are active in the search. Norton Sound Health Corporation is standing by,” the department stated.

Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) expressed his concern:
“We are hearing reports of a possible missing plane en route to Nome. Our thoughts and prayers are with the passengers, their families and the rescue crew.”
This incident highlights the unique challenges faced by Alaska’s aviation industry. The state experiences a higher rate of air taxi and commuter plane accidents compared to other U.S. states, largely due to its challenging weather and mountainous terrain.
Many Alaskan villages lack road connections, forcing residents to rely on small planes for transportation – a situation exacerbated by the left’s continued opposition to infrastructure development in rural areas.
This marks the third major U.S. aviation accident in just eight days. Bering Air has yet to comment publicly as the world watches the small-town rally amid the crisis.
While the haunting reality remains, the focus is firmly on expanding the search radius and praying for a safe outcome.
