Boxing Legend Floyd Mayweather Sends Aid to Israel

( – After the surprise attack by Hamas against Israel this month, one of today’s living boxing legends decided to jump into action and help.

Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. deployed his private jet carrying aid to Israel immediately following the coordinated attack by Palestinian radical Islamic militants from the group Hamas, who control the Gaza Strip and believe in the restoration of a Palestinian state.

Hamas launched the surprise attack earlier this month in a coordinated effort from Gaza, killing over a thousand civilians and taking hostages over the border from Israel. The Israel Defense Force launched a “complete siege” in response to the attack, conducting thousands of airstrikes.

Celebrities around the world shared condolences and outrage over the attack, including Mayweather, who reportedly teamed up with an organization sending relief to Israel to help the Jewish people receive supplies like water, food, body armor, and more.

The 46-year-old retired boxer posted on Instagram that he stands “with Israel against the Hamas terrorists,” adding that he doesn’t believe the militant group represents “the people of Palestine.” Mayweather said it’s “not a time for politics,” but “for safety first and foremost.” He included photographs showing Mayweather visiting Jerusalem. In another post, showing a fist painted with the Israeli flag, Mayweather condemned “antisemitism at all cost” and stands “for peace” and “human rights.”

Other celebrities who condemned the attacks by Hamas include Amy Schumer, Gal Gadot, Sarah Silverman, and Madonna. Actor Mark Hamill also expressed support for Israel, although many of his politically left-wing supporters were not happy with his views, to Hamill’s surprise.

This isn’t the first humanitarian aid effort by the boxer, who also helped families that lost their homes following the wildfires in Maui a few months ago. Mayweather helped provide food, shelter, clothing, transportation, and other resources to dozens of families impacted by the natural disaster.
