(VitalNews.org) – President Joe Biden has been an anti-gun campaigner and legislator for a long time and was responsible for the 1994 Violent Crime Control Act. However, it has become apparent in recent years that his grasp on the finer technical details of how guns actually work is less than one might hope for – his latest claim that AR pistol stabilizer braces make the guns shoot higher-caliber bullets was widely mocked earlier this month.
To be clear, stabilizer braces don’t do anything of the sort – their primary function is to assist the firer in stabilizing the pistol during target shooting. One misstatement may be forgiven – after all, no politician can be expected to remember everything – but a series of gun-related gaffes call into question his suitability as a legislator.
For example, in 2013, during a home defense discussion, he recommended that one should fire a shotgun into the air outside the home to scare off intruders, thus rendering them liable at the very least for felony charges of aggravated menacing and reckless endangerment.
Six years later in 2019, during a Democrat Primary debate, he argued that no gun should be sold unless they were tailored to the user’s biometric characteristics. Unfortunately for Biden, four years have elapsed since then and the technology still doesn’t exist.
Also in 2019, Biden claimed in front of a crowd of supporters in New Hampshire that the sale and ownership of assault-type weapons and magazines that hold multiple bullets should be eliminated, saying that “nobody should have a magazine with 100 clips in it.” Even considering that all magazines hold multiple bullets, it is an odd statement for anyone to make.
And in 2022, Biden claimed that bullets shot from an AR15 are five times faster than those shot out of any other gun – a demonstrably untrue claim. It could be reasonably argued that pursuing an agenda of gun control whilst perpetuating such falsehoods is highly irresponsible for someone in his position.
