Biden Admin. Let in Three Times as Many Migrants as Trump

(VitalNews.org) – A new report from the U.S. Border Patrol shows that more than three times the number of illegal immigrants snuck into the U.S. under President Joe Biden’s administration compared to that of his predecessor, Donald Trump.

The report says 1.5 million illegal immigrants – called “gotaways” – have successfully evaded border control under the Democratic president.

The data shows that the Biden Administration has seen almost four times as many illegal aliens jump the border and disappear into the U.S. as those who managed to get in while Donald Trump was President.

In the 2023 fiscal year alone, which will not end for another four months, 530,000 aliens made it through. The Border Patrol estimates there were 600,000 border jumpers in 2022, up from 389,000 in 2021.

Governors and lawmakers in Border states such as Texas and Florida have railed at the Biden administration to take stronger action to stem the tide of illegal immigration. In the second week of May, a COVID-era rule called Title 42 expired. This rule, first signed by former President Donald Trump, allows the U.S. to quickly expel would-be immigrants at the border on public health grounds.

Title 42 was used by both Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden to deny entry to 2.8 million would-be immigrants. In the lead-up to Title 42’s expiration, thousands more immigrants than usual lined up on the Mexican side of the line in border cities such as El Paso and Brownsville Texas.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been pleading with immigrants not to believe the “lie” that getting into the U.S. would be easier after the rule’s expiration. The message has not been received, given the crowds at border checkpoints.

In the days after Title 42’s expiration on Thursday, May 11th, border officials apprehended 10,000 immigrants per day. In the first weekend after the expiration, they nabbed 15,000.
