(VitalNews.org) – In a clear act of aggression, China has launched a massive cyber attack on America’s telecommunications networks.
Described as “one of the worst cyber hacks in US history,” this breach compromised the private communications of countless citizens and government officials.

It also exposed the growing threat of Chinese espionage and the urgent need to protect America’s critical infrastructure from foreign adversaries.
The White House has revealed that at least eight U.S. telecom companies have fallen victim to this Chinese hacking campaign, known as “Salt Typhoon.”
This intrusion has given the Chinese government access to the private text messages and phone calls of American officials and prominent political figures, including President-elect Donald Trump’s associates.
Deputy National Security Adviser Anne Neuberger confirmed the severity of the breach while claiming that the Biden administration is taking the threat seriously.
“We don’t believe any classified communications has been compromised,” Neuberger said.
The hacking campaign, which is believed to have started one to two years ago, has targeted the phones of political figures across the spectrum.
In response to the U.S. government’s findings, Chinese embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu boldly stated, “The U.S. needs to stop its own cyberattacks against other countries and refrain from using cyber security to smear and slander China.”
This statement has been labeled as a classic example of communist propaganda. Instead of addressing the serious allegations, China resorts to accusations and deflection tactics.
Even more concerning is the fact that the impacted companies have not been able to fully remove the Chinese actors from their networks, posing ongoing risks to national security.
In the meantime, the FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency came up with guidance on how to address the attack.
America has previously experienced similar threats, such as the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack, which highlighted the need for strengthened cybersecurity measures across various industries.
